Dollhouse- Work In Progress! Pt. 4

Dollhouse- Work In Progress! Pt. 4

The exterior of the dollhouse is 75% constructed!!! I will admit, I totally underestimated the amount of work/detail/cleaning that would go into making this. Not to mention it is also rather large sitting at over two feet wide/tall. After countless hot glue gun burns, blisters on every finger from cutting quite literally 1,000 popsicle sticks, a few splinters and one tiny slice from a rogue utility knife, we have this...

When I first envisioned this project, I pictured myself sitting down for a couple of hours a day to build. Just listening to some Forensic Files (homicide narrators soothe my soul...anyone else?) and relaxing...a project that I could do at my leisure...no deadline...perfection right? As if...I literally spend half of the day wanting to do nothing but work on it and the other half of the day trying to organize all my thoughts and ideas for the dollhouse into a somewhat categorized shit show inside my head. Also, did I mention the cleaning that is involved with a project like this?! You can not enter my craft room without eye protection anymore. Picture a massive hail storm pummeling everything, but except hail its tiny pieces of popsicle sticks that get launched at the speed of light every time I cut them down. I am thanking sky daddy that my Shark navigator is such a trooper with clean up, because carpet and crafts don't mix.  See below for the aftermath of ONE day...

All complaining aside, the magic is in the process and I am thoroughly enjoying every second of it. Once it is completely built and furnished I will likely start another project severely outside of my skillset to cope and keep my hands busy (any ideas?!). This has been a challenging, but rewarding project so far. Never in a million years would I have thought I could pull this off, but the house is stable and still standing which is really all I could hope for. Scroll down to see my overworked hands in action...

Voilà!!!

Next time around I should be 100% done with siding & sanding the exterior and will be ripping my hair out to decide what design route I will take for the front. Suggestions for exterior paint colors?!
